A question for the beta testers

To make glass, best thing is to set refraction color pure white, and then color it with the fog color and multiplier (usually it needs low multipliers!). Fog should not reset if your refraction color is smth else than black

A question for the beta testers

theres no harm in asking questions if you get confused. Others have had similar problems with the UI for materials.

A question for the beta testers

I have always like a material preview but after using XSI my opinion changed. They do have a material preview if you wish to use it but the better way to go is with render region tool. Simply draw a marquee in your camera viewport and it will stay there till you hide it, with it visible your changes in your shader will re-render in the render region. The big plus for this is your looking at you objects in your scene with your lighting setup. Two other options that keeps things speedy is you can render just the selected object and on the side of the region tool is a slider that sets the quality of the rendering. A couple other nice things is that you have handles so you can change the size, or move it to a new position and right click for options with the ability to save an image.

I don't know if this is possible to do something like this, if not I would like to see an option to render current selected object or objects. So when you render your viewport only those selected objects are render giving you faster feedback.

I know there is the hide option in Rhino but I would like to see something in V-Ray as some people use hide/show for there modeling. I came across this when I wrote a simple script for Flamingo using the hide/show.

        Thanks,
        Glen

Hi Glen- in Rhino you can use the RenderWindow command to render a limited area to the Vray frame buffer- The way the command works is once it is done, you need Enter or Esc to continue working. That is because in Rhino with the Rhino renderer the command paints a little 'volatile' rendering directly to the viewport and it goes away when you get back to work.

So far the Vray implemnetation is very handy not only because you can render a limited area, but is also allows you to re-render areas of an image. So if you find the rendering perfect except there is a little too much caustic effect right there, turn down the caustics and re-render the area. At least in many cases if you are careful, there will be no obvious border arund the area.

            Thanks Pascal,
I had no idea that would work. I can use the one on the Flamingo toolbar and for those who don't have it I copied and edited one from Flamingo-
