Hi all- attached is a toolbar with a button designed to help collect irradiance map info from around the scene 'while-u-wait'. See

If you set the options in the Vray controls as described there you should be able to build up the incremented map with the rendereing part turned off (under System) using this tool. Then turn on rendering and switch to using the saved file as the irradiance map and you should be able to render with the GI saved in the file from any view. I do not know how many renderings is a good number to save as a rule, I imagine it will depend on the scene.
