Mapping

I have the Brazil 2.0 WIP installed (11-30) to use mapping but I can't get a texture to show up. Where do you pick the texture? I entered C:\Documents and Settings\Craig\My Documents\...\EM-U1000Bmed.jpg in the name field and it showed up in the mapping column, but is that correct? I don't see anything in the render. Is jpg okay?
