  • In the interest ....

    Hello all,

There's many here with no prior Vray experience, and of course, there are those with a good amount of experience through Max. In the interest of accelerating the testing, please try and share your settings for lighting and materials as much as possible for those at the bottom of the learning curve. More people doing more advanced things will equate to a broader analysis and will only serve to expedite the process.

    Thank You,

Explain your scene setup for specific help, but as a general tip I would start off using a rect light or direct light at first until you get used to falloff settings. The positional / spotlight falloff pretty quickly and need large multipliers.

This may be of some interest: The built-in Irradiance Map presets in 3DS Max.
Range from Very High to Very Low quality setting.

It does not explain anything but it shows a lot...
This help me to improve the quality of my rendering with VFR...

          Cheers

I'll be sure to put them in the installer. I wasn't aware that these existed

Also, to be clear. The visopt file format is an entire representation of all of our options - it is not the same as in Max where those presets are just for certain parts of the options.

Hi, can anyone tell me what the files do and how do I use them?

Visopts files simply save your render settings. When you open the render options window for Vray, in the upper left is "file." Pull that down and you can load pre-saved settings or save your own for future use. There are a bunch that come with Vray- when you first pick "load" it should show you the list.
