  • GI light problem

    Hallo,

here a GI lighting problem. I would like to know, why I have got this wrong effect. The lighting in the marked area should be dark shadowed, but it is bright. I have used IM+LC GI. Any hint? In my gallery is the correct version with IM+QMC visible.

Please post all your settings, or the scene. The problem is not only in the selected area, it ahppens on all your faces poiting in that direction.

Did you use very low LC samples, or very big sample size?

I can not find my old settings and so I have started a new test. Now it looks better. In my first example I have used a subdiv mult 0.1. Maybe this and other low parameters was the reason for the strong effect.
It's difficult to say, which version (LC or QMC) is more real. The QMC GI has used only 3 bounces and the LC seems to use much more bounces.

      I will observe this effect.

Yeah LC uses infinite bounces always. But the inner surfaces shouldn't be lighter than the ones more on the outside!

0.1 for sample size is much too high, if you use screen that is. 0.01 or 0.005 is much better. That can explain the lighter areas, the samples are so big that lighting isn't correct at all.
