I've basically only used Flamingo tragedy, I know) and I'm just starting to get into V-ray. So far it is amazing!

There are a few things I'm missing from dear old flamingo though so I'm helping someone on this board might have already figured them out.

In particular I'm missing the "decal" function that I could use to paste an image onto a surface and use an alpha channel to drop out the background of the original image. I'm guessing there's a way to do this with different channels or some such in materials but I haven't figured it out yet. Any hints?

Hmmm, so a second layer as a diffuse material to drop out the background? (my machine is rendering right now so I don't want to test it yet.) Then would I set the the color to the background I am trying to drop out?

I'm kind of trying to get around the decal sizing by using the pictureframe command, right now I only need flat surfaces so it seems to be working.

It just seems like there should be a way with all the layers available to get the old alpha mask trick to somehow work.

The last VfR transparency options was buggy and will be fixed in the next release.

But it dosn't work with scaled textures, here we would need an extra option like described at the thread in the wish section.
