  • 3 part question regarding textures

This is a 3 part question regarding textures,

1)In the material editor, on the right side I drop down the diffuse click on the ?m? next to colour, browse my texture files, if I bring in a wood grain BMP file and click on the update preview button it shows my wood grain as grey. If I do the same but with a jpg wood grain it look ok.

2)Once I have my wood grain in the material editor how can I scale my textures?

3)How do you set gloss and reflections? I tried adding a reflection layer but nothing happens when I render, no gloss finish
Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Regards,

    3 part question regarding textures

    MarkO,

You have run into a few bugs that are now fixed in the most recent build of V-Ray for Rhino.

    This is fixed.

You can use RCM mapping tools to scale, rotate, and position your textures. Go to Object Properties>Mapping.

You are correct in adding a relfection layer. I am not sure why nothing happens. I would need to see your material settings to tell you what is going on. What you will need to do here is apply a Fresnel texture or reduce the reflection color from pure white toward black. Otherwise you will end up with a mirror.
