  • Strange Halo

Hi all. I am working on an interior rendering attempting to get glass panels (butt-glazed, no silicone) to appear. I am getting a weird alpha channel halo as seen below. I placed a red backround so you can see the "missing" glass. Anyone know what is going on?

    Info:
-The glass is all mesh with thickness.
-I am using the Vlado method
-lights are one directional and two rectangle (See image below)

One other question: Should I try to get the Vlado method to work without using those rectangle lights?

    Thanks,
    Garrett

        Corey,

Sorry, that email should be coming from my stenforsarchitects.com account and not my nmda.com account, which I can no longer access.

I will use this username from now on to eliminate any confusion.

Can you send the model again. Or email me without it so I can give you an FTP address to dump it in...

          Thanks!

              A quick update:

The halo appears when I render either only the directional light or the rectangle lights. I think the lights are not the issue.

Is your glass single plane or it actually has some thickness? If it is a single plane, you can try to make it a proper glass sheet with two surfaces with correct normals.

                Vlado

Thanks. The glass has thickness and the normals are correct. Not sure what is going on.
