  • Grass for everybody (textures)

    Hi,

    today I have try to get some good grass. I have scaned some grass and create some textures. I have used the McNeel server to store the textures, free for everybody. Please look here for the test image and here are the textures.

          Could you please explain little more how you did it!
          What is billboard you are mentioning in you post?

              Billboards are a CG technic to place trees, plants and peoples in 3D scenes, but without a 3d modell, only a plane is used.

              If you like, you can download some good free 2d textures from www.got3d.com and test it.

              Best is, if the billboards are aligned to the camera. Here you can find a script, that can do it for you. Also, you should set the direct light so, that the shadow looks good.

              If you create a billboard plane in Rhino, than the rhino command "pictureframe" is a great help to keep the right ratio of the image.
