  • Glass render with black areas

    Dear all

I'm getting fanatic with my new toy (vray).
I'm now trying to make a test for glass but because I'm very inexperienced maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Any tips (tutorial) to render glass in v-ray for Rhino??

Anyone can help me to remove that black areas in my glass material???

    Thanks
    Sergio

    Glass render with black areas

    Hi Sergio
Are you using the standard 'glass' material, or have you created one yourself? - If so, what are your material settings?
Also, what is your 'max depth' setting (it's in the materials section of the 'Global Switches' area of the V4R options toolbar). This is often responsible for back areas in glass - however, looking at you rendering, it doesn't look like that's your problem.
Is the object a 'solid' or 'surfaces'? - Is there a duplicate surface?

        Glass render with black areas

Just to give everyone an update, Sergio has sent me the file via PM and there seems to be a small problem with his import data. (There are two rogue surfaces). After a quick re-draw of those surfaces all seems well! Renders OK.

              Surface normal inverted (rogue)

              Hi all

With the help of Magnatizerr I was able to indentify the problem.
In my opinion I would call this situation surfaces with theyr normal direction inverted.

              Thanks to all
