adaptive option in LC parameters

Can anyone explain what this is for? Is it only used in the ppt mode of LC?

adaptive option in LC parameters

Well I think it's usefull only in PPT mode, as LC in secondary with Adaptive on - usually doesn't make sense. But, in big scenes it can be usefull too - maybe you can get small rendertime decrease.

Adaptive - put more samples in important directions

I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?
