What's the way to create a material like the following:

I'd like to use this one material to create a palette by adjusting the diffuse color and saving. Is that possible, or will dark colors have different properties than lighter colors?

Is a single reflective layer enough? I'm not really clear on how to use multiple ones. In Flamingo I believe I used "clear finish."

    Thanks

"clear finish" is the same like an additional reflection layer with "fresnel" at the reflection color slot.

Thanks Micha- I'll try that when I get a chance. I haven't really experimented with multiple layers yet.

Did you see the FTP site for sharing materials? Hint hint.
When I have one worthy of sharing, I'll contribute!

Hi craiggorton - Unfortunately, I'm not sure the materials library FTP is up and running for uploads yet?! (I've tried but without success - when it is I've got a few I can upload)

(edit) - opps, I just read Joeb last message again - it seems all is well, I will try some later

(edit 2) I've just uploaded some - If the material needs a image (say carbon fibre) will that also be uploaded?? (all my uploaded materials so far don't involve maps)

Yeah - we realized that my initial "quick-fix" was not much of a fix at all and Corey made an html interface to handle all that stuff

Thanks joeb - just a thought, but is there anyway the person who uploaded the material in the first place can go in an edit it? - I'm thinking that if someone wanted to update or even replace the material they had uploaded - this would prevent the need to upload a second version of the same material?

I'm not sure of the inner workings behind that interface but I'll ask Corey what he thinks. It seems like a valid suggestion to me - but I'm not sure if the interface has a concept of who uploaded what.
