  • LC problem

    Hej,
I have a problem with the LC.
When ever I choose LC as a render engine in my modell, it will render to a speciall point and then stop. I have tried different settings and its always the same. I tried different render engines and it workd somethimes, somethimes rhino crashes.

So my first question is how does LC work? how can it stop at special time? It doesn?t seem to calculate light by starting in the upper left corner and working trough the picture wich could explain to me this behavior. It seem more calculating points on the hole image.
I have to say that the model i try to render is from Joteros download site and I can think it?s hard to calculate/render.
    some suggestions?

You should read the chapter "Light cache" here:

Do you know Maxwell? The LC works approx. like the Maxwell mode. In Vray you setup how many samples will be taken - for example LC subdivs 1000.
Allways I use the LC for the secondary engine (disable adaptive LC mode). If all LC samples are done, the primary engine start to calculate the scene - QMC good for high details and less artefacts and simple control or IM for faster approximated calculation with more control. In tutorial F I have used both methods.

      LC problem

      thanks micha, I know that.
my question is why does it stop in the middel? Can a complex modell force the LC to stop or crash rhino?

        LC problem

I'm not sure I quite follow what you mean by "it stops". Perhaps you just think its not "done" because you don't have enough samples?

Renderings with any of the GI styles can crash depending on the amount of geometry and textures, etc. Its just a matter of how much memory a scene takes up and how much memory is available. Perhaps if you could clarify a bit more on what your current situation is we could help more.
