  • suggestion for material tester

Following the idea of Thomas Anagnostou, here is my proposal for a Vray for Rhino scene. Before I start posting the scene, just let me know if there are people in the first place who want to start using it

Here some examples rendered with this scene:

    i want i want !
I just think that maybe we could have a curved or demi/quarter sphere or organic hole getting inside the sphere. So see more rounding effect...

        really nice.
Surely it will encourage people to post new materials.I for one will surely do.

          Looks fine.

A higher radius (maybe 5 mm) at the edge of the halfsphere could help to show effects at small radiuses.

Do you have speak with Corey about your scene? I know, he is or was working on a material scene with the object from the vray material page.

@ Jean-Paul: don't quite catch your idea, could you show a picture?

@Micha: I know that Corey was trying to get the scene into Vray for Rhino. But I am not so happy about that particular scene. The scene I have been building is gamma corrected, uses reinhard mapping with slight burn (0.9). About the radius, I might add that radius to the bottom of the stand.

I am also adding 'air bubbles' to the top half and will add an object inside the sphere for subsurface scattering effects, similar to the maxwell scene.

              ...will post an update soon

                  Ok,

I think the rounding effect will be covered by filleting the base of the stand.

Furthermore, the stand has 3mm fins that are ideal to show transparency and translucency effects and the flat area's give some information about self-reflection of the material as well.

I've started a new thread where you can download the file for testing materials

For the moment there is no website where materials can be uploaded ala maxwell or vraymaterials.de, so if anyone has the time, experience, energy and webspace to make a sharing environment, this would be highly appreciated.

It's a good start, but I must admit I would like to see a screen shot of the material before I downloaded it

Yeah we're working on a better interface for all of the ASGvis website.
