  • Light Cache / Irradiance Map problem

    Hi,
I have encountered a weird problem:
I have tried to render this immage 2 times: one time using LC and QMC; the second time using IR and QMC and these are the results:

I used a plain white surface as background and the classic 'building'HDRI for global illumination.
Can somebody help me to get this background right?
    thanks.

do you put the same map of enviroment also for the gi? trying to blur the hdri image before you use for gi (make two images: one for gi (blurred) and another one for enviroment).

This may be a long shot, but check and make sure that the mode setting for IR map or LC is set to single frame. I doubt that thats it, but if you were just clicking on random stuff that might have gotten switched

Light Cache / Irradiance Map problem

        Hi,
I've checked my settings and the lC or IR map is set to single frame.
I've made a new render with the blurred hdri-map from micha's tutorial about hdri. this is the result:

The dirty spots are gone, but I've still got the noise in the background.
Does anyone have an idea to get this better?

what are your min/max rate subdvis and samples in irradiance map ?
in your QMC Sampler, what is your noise treshold ?
what are the samplings of your rectangular lights ?

If your using LC then check the text in the render progress window and see if says that there are invalid LC samples. Also if your using self emitting geometry (I doubt you are) that might have an adverse effect as well.

If you'd like you can upload that scene to ftp://ftp.asgvis.com/incoming and we can take a look at it. Just let me know the name of the file if you decide to put it up there. Thanks
              Best regards,

                Hi,
these are my settings for QMC and IR and the rectangular light.

also I will upload the scene as you suggested. It's called 'dulst'.
                thanx for the support.
