  • how to insure good output color ?

    Yep,
here is still the good 100 point question.
a bitmap mapped on a surface.
this surface is placed inside a solid glass block (clear glass default vray).
how to insure that we have the same right good color of the original jpg ?

right now, there is reflections of the object inside the glass that makes it looks like there is more. how to reduce the reflectiveness of the inside ? it is like there is mirrors in the internal sides... reducing the IOR to near 1 ?
water is physically 1.33, glass 1.5, air 1
    Jp

here a picture for the real world...

Two things that might work. The first is simple and is probably won't be effective, but is worth a shot. Maybe disabling Reflect on Backside in the material options would give you the kind of affect your looking for.

The second thing is another shot in the dark, but I think it might be more promising. In the fresnel mapping there are two IOR values, one that says fresnel IOR and another that says Refraction IOR. Try decreasing the Refraction IOR to something just slightly above 1 (1.05 or 1.1 maybe). That may cut help with what you want to achieve. Make sure its the Refraction IOR value within the Fresnel mapping not the IOR value for the Refraction Layer. Also make sure to keep the Fresnel IOR and the Refraction LAYER values match the material your trying to create.

BTW is that a picture or a rendering? also maybe post some of tests you've done so far and what is wrong about them. I know what your talking about, I'm just having trouble visualizing it.

Maybe decreasing the Max Depth for reflections (top right in Global Switches) to something like 2 or 3. Just a shot in the dark though.
