  • Selecting the Mapping Widget

Quick question: Why can I select the mapping widget (when made visible) sometimes, but not others? 10 minutes ago I added a projection mapping to an object, and was able to use standard rotate and scale tools to edit it.

Now I add another object, add a projection map, and I cannot select the widget. anyone know what I'm doing? Thanks!

      Re: Selecting the Mapping Widget

its a different way of calculating the scene. instead of processing each mode one by one. like LC then Caustics, then image sampling it does it all at once. Here's a link that can make sense of it.

Ah same thing happend to me, drove me insane. I ended up using Alias Imagestudio for that rendering assignment (required lots of decals) just because of that..

          Re: Selecting the Mapping Widget

Selecting the mapping widget usually works best for me in an orthographic view (top/bottom/left/right). Once selected I can modify the widget in all views, including perspective. Also, make sure your Default Rhino layer is unlocked.

            Re: Selecting the Mapping Widget

I usually try to edit the widget through typing parameters as much as possible. Besides the trouble with selecting the mapping widget I've had issues with movements/adjustments not actually affecting the mapping. I've also moved the base object and not had the mapping move with it. It is a pain sometimes, but it helps me be more deliberate with what I am doing as well.
With V4 the mapping is much better, easier, and more reliable than v3. Also the viewport depiction of textures is better too. Not to much longer till the beta will be available.

              Re: Selecting the Mapping Widget

At Rhino 3 it was/is a bug: if the default layer is locked or hidden or ... than mapping widgets are locked too. It seems to be, that the widegets are internal linked to the default layer, so take care for this layer.
