Re: Rendered viewport with visible spherical environment experiment

... it's at the texture slot only. I don't know why it work so good, it's perfect visible at the viewport.

      Ah, texture slot only.
However I still can't see the image on the inside of the sphere... only the outside. I have double sided checked... what am I missing? I'm sure its something obvious / simple.

        ...maybe reversing sphere normal direction.

... best download the scene file and use it for experiments. The normals are not inverted here.

I don't think you can reverse the normals on a sphere... at least I'm not having any luck doing it. Hm... I've created a sphere using the "_Shpere" command, and also using a half circle revolved around it's axis... Niether are allowing me to reverse the normals.

A flat plane shows a double sided mat. but the sphere isn't working.

I'm stuck with Rhino v3. so your example scene is inaccessible till I upgrade.

Speaking of... maybe this is an RCM issue that is fixed with the beta?

You also may try splitting the sphere, grouping it, flipping the normals, and mapping it that way.

Also create a mesh from the sphere (this is good for large env spheres allways) helps and than you can flip the normals of the closed object.

Hi Micha I know this is a very old topic. Im very new in this and I wanted to give it a try to the spherical environment experiment so i downloaded your file an put pictures from my own and it really worked . I also checked your 'Wish" and I saw that you change the script of your layers, I want to know if one of the reason of why the experiment worked it was because of the script change you did.

P.D: I know this is a very old topic i hope you reply me thank you very much!

                    Hi,

the script change the layer visibilty only. If I remember me right, it turn off the sphere with the jpg texture, so that the Vray GI environment can be active during the rendering. The sphere is for preview at the viewport only, not for rendering.
                    Is this the answer?
