Trying adding radius to the light (in the light properties). It is unit dependent, so try 1.0, 0.01, 100, etc.

... try 0.02, it's my standard value for dir lights (if I understand right, the dir light radius is an angle and independent from the units)

Yes - for the direct light only, it is independent of units. It is some angular relation that I cannot recall exactly. Radius values should stay between 0 and 1 for the direct light.

ah, thanks for that clarification, I must've been thinking about point lights or something.
