Can you give an update on any plans to implement floating licenses for Vray (for Rhino)?

This is a definite feature that is required if I am to continue replacing Max & Vray with Rhino & Vray.

    Thanks

    Re: Network / Floating license

We have access to the V-Ray floating license server SDK. However, we didn't get access to it until we were quite far along (essentially about 2/3 weeks ago ) and we were wary to introduce such a big change so late in the game. It will be making its appearance in our next iteration. We realize how important it is - and the Chaos Group staff worked really hard to iron out the kinks to let us use their licensing service, but it just didn't happen in time to make this release.

Does this mean the floating licence will not be available till a an update of the soon to be released VFR4.0 or a will we have to wait until a large update comes out?

We haven't fully planned out our next moves yet so I'm hesitant to just take a guess. But I would say that about half to three-quarters of our customers want a floating license setup - so it is something that is very high on our list of priorities.

We have seven network licences for SketchUp in one office, and four in the other. We'd want to distribute access to V-Ray for SketchUp in a similar way (maybe not quite that number of licences at first, sorry )

          Just adding our somewhat-more-than-two-cents.

yep - that is how most businesses operate. Its a much easier way to deal with the software - since not everyone will always be using it on a given machine. We're still plugging away on integrating it into our software / store.
