  • Light Utilities for v4.0

Has anyone tested the light utilities for Rhino 4?
    http://en.wiki.mcneel.com/default.as...Utilities.html

I created an area light with this but when I edit it to select the color, etc all the parameters are diferent.

    Thanks

    Re: Light Utilities for v4.0

I've tried with mine and it all seams to be working fine. I have noticed that sometimes (this was before Pascal's light utilities) that depending on how I selected lights, they sometimes would have different parameters. Usually deselecting them, then reselecting worked for me, but if you have more of a substantial issue, contact Joe about it. I'm don't think Pascal's utilities changed the light itself, only its edit points, but there may be something that Joe needs to take care of on his end. I'm glad Pascal made these tools though because editing area lights were notoriously tedious, but these make it a dream ;D.

            Re: Light Utilities for v4.0

I have the same problem as Sergio, could have swear it was working in RC.

What I get now, when using Pascal utility is the sun parameter dialog box.

May be it is because the control points are on and there is no way of turning them off,if I select the light by just clicking on it,I get the Rhino light dialog box,if I select by window,I get the sun dialog box.
I don't have Rhino SR1 installed either.Should I,will it work with Vray with no problems?

              Re: Light Utilities for v4.0

Okay, I think I have tracked down the issue. It has to do with what rhino loads within the selection. If you grab it by the points it has the light and the point, so it does the options with the rhino general light properties. if you select it by either the center point or the target point, it thinks its the direct light (hence the sun mix up). What you really need to do is to grab just the light. There are two ways to do this. First is to type SelLight in the commandline. This will select all of the lights and only the lights in the scene. After that, just deselect the lights you don't want to edit. The Second way which is a little more work is to grab the light and ungroup it. This will separate the light and the points. Grab just the light and edit it. Now grab the light and its points, and regroup it. It should work as it did before (at least it has in my tests). I will email Pascal and Joe and see if we can get a better work around for the issue. Hope this helps.
