  • Hot tip for printing the manual

I found a pretty nice solution for printing the manual : FedEx-Kinko's will let you upload the PDF via their excellent online portal, select paper stock & covers, and have it ready in 24 hours or less.

I used the full-color, two-sided option with clear covers and spiral binding. The cost is $70 for small quantities and $50 if you order 10+ copies. It may seem like a lot, but its a great long-term investment and a fantastic learning tool.

I´ve found that new version of Manual is uploaded ( I have the one with the 2 teapots on the cover. It it possible to check the updates? Is there any topic that shows the upgraded material? So I don´t have to print it all again.

      Thank you

The updates were only for installer issues...nothing feature related

                • hi,

will Chaosgroup provide a manual with the new 1.5 version, explaining the new features for unexperienced light-users like me?

                  thanks,

                  • Hello Gerard-

This is on our list of things to do. We will keep you updated on this topic. In the meantime a lot of the new features are documented on www.spot3d.com for V-Ray for 3ds max. The features and screenshots may not be 100% the same however the concepts and technology is.

                    Best regards,

                    Corey

                    • Hi,

I hope we can talk about the UI before manuals are written.

                      Ciao,

That is good news on the patch.... but can I get an ETA on when the manual might be ready? I teach V-Ray and the crazy students are always bugging me about how difficult it is to read my mind .... as opposed to a handy book. What should I tell them?

                            • Right now our spot3d site, and our tutorials page are the main places to find information about our product at the moment. I do not have any sort of an actual ETA to give you about any manual beyond that though.

                              • My class is starting next week {August 28, 2012 in case you are reading this in the distant future!} and it looks like we are forced to use V-Ray 1.05. It is unfortunate that students paying so much for tuition can't learn the latest software and it's also frustrating that software was released without a manual ... or a timetable when it may arrive.
