  • HELP! Vray demo messes up Rhino render backround..

This is driving me nuts: After uninstalling the Vray demo my rendered
backround will always be on gray (160,160,160). I can adjust it to
something else, save the file, but then after reopening it will be back on
    gray.
Does anyone know how to get it back right?

    thx
    Tobias

That is the default background for the Rhino Renderer. You can change it by going to options and then Rhino Render (or Render) under document properties.

        Hi dalomar,
I know where you can set the background for the Rhino Render. The thing is that whatever you set as the background color it will stay just for one session. Next time you open up the file it'll be back on gray.
This behaviour is there since I installed the v-ray demo and its not going away with uninstalling.

        thx

In Options > Files, at the top you will find two lines for template files. The second line is the file that Rhino automatically opens with. Make a "blank" file with all of the settings how you want them and save it as a template (SaveAsTemplate command). Now in the options file tell rhino to open that file instead of the file thats there. That should work.

            Nope... doesn't work.
I can save a template with a 2 color gradient background but when I reopen Rhino with that template the background is gray.

Re: HELP! Vray demo messes up Rhino render backround..

Pascal seams to think its an RDK issue as a few other people using different render engines (all using RDK) have had the issue.

                Here are his two posts:

Here is also the RDK page in which you can download the most updated RDK version

                  Pascal was right (as usual).
Renaming RCM.rhp and rhrdk.10.v40.rhp did the trick.

Phew... glad I am back to normal.

Pascal is usually right...and very helpful ;D

Since this is now officially an RDK issue I am putting a link up over in the RDK Bug section.

Just curious on what to do now, not familiar with scripting,

Do i just download and install the SDK plugin and SDK program and install and then it works?

                      Not sure

Re: HELP! Vray demo messes up Rhino render backround..

There's no scripting with this, and nothing involves the SDK, but rather RDK which is the plugin that provides rendering plugins with things like the sunlight system and other goodies (the Rhino SDK is something completely different and won't help you with this, so make sure that your searching for the right thing). Pascal suggests renaming those plugins as a way to take care of the situation. I'm sure if you went and completely reinstalled RDK that would work as well. Does that clarify things?...I'm not really too sure if thats what you are going after.

                          Sorry,

                          Still not clear,

Where are those files and what are they called and what do i rename them to?

                          Sorry for not understanding.

Just re install RDK and that should take care of the issue for you.
