    Hi everyone,

I'm trying to render a whole bunch of LED lights and looking for the most efficient way of creating an LED effect. any suggestions?
is there a self illumination option for V-ray materials?

    Cheers,
    Mani

Look at the material tutorial here:

For LED best you use an emitter material with a texture, so the LED dosn't looks so homogenous. Good, if you place the emitter within a plastic housing (colored "glass" material + enable "affect shadows").

Yes, a frontal photo direct in the lens. It's not a must, but looks better than a simple colored emitter only. You can use a radial color gradient too, but maybe this is looking to perfect. It's a question of how much detail is needed.
