Computer sleep during rendering process

I'm in the middle of a high resolution render that is taking quite a bit longer than expected. This would be fine except tomorrow I have to travel. What happens if I put my computer to sleep before the rendering is finished? Will it continue when it wakes up? I would hate to lose all the time that has already been put into this.

If I set my computer in standby during a rendering, than it render again after wakeup from standby. It dosn't stop.
