  • OT : Windows XP remote desktop problem

    Hello,

I have a problem with the remote desktop: if I start the slave after the master, than I get no connection (but I get access to slave HDD). If I restart the master, than the remote desktop works. Any ideas what I can do, that I can start the slave after the master and get RD access?

    Thanks in advance,
    Micha

My guess would be that it would come down to the ports that are used for RD are blocking the ones for DR or vice versa...Maybe Joe can shed a little more light on this...

The problem is not direct DR related, it's a more general problem. Often I'm working on a project and think, now I could use DR. I start the slave, but get no RD access to start the spawner. I could make, that the slave complete starts (automatic log on) with an automatic started spawner, but than I can not control the slave per RD, because RD can not beused, if the computer is complete started (an user is loged on).

Thats odd - how are the two connected? Is this just a regular home/office network or some ad hoc (peer-to-peer) type thing or a vpn connection of some sort?

That is odd- it sounds like your master isn't recognizing that the slave machine is on the same domain unless the Slave is visible there when the master boots. I'm not really an IT guy - so I'm not sure what you could change to fix that. Maybe you should post this question on a Microsoft forum? Or read-up remote desktop / network setup and make sure it is configured correctly.

It try the free remote software UltraVnc and it works fine, no restart necessary. ;D
