  • Dual or Quad Core?

Does Vray make use of 4 cores? I now have two threads set up when rendering on my old P4 with hyperthreading...

Would be interesting to render a sample scene on different machines and post the result.
    Anyone?

    Re: Dual or Quad Core?

    Hi,

if you think about a new PC i would suggest you to buy a quadcore!

It is just amazing to watch your rendering with 4 instead of 2 buckets

So it is really usefull to have four Cores-it is two times faster...

    Need more arguments?!?

      I am sold I guess ;D
How many cores are supportet by vray?
can I run dualboard with 2 quad core cpus? would I double the speed again? Are there boards that will do the trick? would be cheap...for only one CPU more and some more money for the baord...

I already try vray demo on a dual quad core xeon 2.66 from dell (you can buy for not so expensive on "outlet"), and it's very fast! ;D

          Hi,

I recently upgraded my hardware and got a machine with dual xeon quad core processors. I used to work on a P4 with HT and compared to that the new machine it´s suuuuperfast! It´s fantastic to see eight buckets go to work ;D

V-Ray will support nearly unlimited number of threads, so cram as many quad cores in to your machine as you can afford.
