I'm new to Vray and want to render several scenes with a progress set up of models to create an animation...(old school stop motion style) however, in all the scenes is a very rough textured material that is consistent in every scene and never moves but yet, the rough texture seems to "dance" and shift from render to render so that when I compile the images together in flash it almost appears as though the surface itself is moving. I'm using LC but is there something I should be doing that I'm not or something I shouldn't be doing that I am?

Re: Using bumpmaps w/ animations
You're not doing anything wrong, its just the nature of how you have things setup. I assume you're using both LC and IR, which are both "approximation" methods. This means that it will take into account points and interpolate for the rest. Because the bump map isn't an absolute (it will actually vary slightly based on viewing angle) and combining that with LC and IR's tendency to need some means of interpolation between frames, the flickering is probably a combination of the two. The best way to try to control this is by doing the best IR map for the whole animation. The requires that you calculate all of your IR maps first, and also that the IR maps "know" about each other. There is a tutorial in the support section that talks about setting up animations (with Rhino's built in animation tools specifically, but the concepts of producing the animation are still applicable) so I would suggest you check that out, as well as search the forum for animation.Damien Alomar<br />Generally Cool Dude
