vray not working?

i have an error saying:
Unable to make "V-Ray for Rhino" the current render plug-in

i'm using the newest version of Rhino... any reason why vray doesn't work anymore?

i did install the latest maxwell and brazil plug-ins for Rhino.... they all work.

is there an update for vray comming?

Thats you're reason...the latest version of RDK doesn't work with Rhino. This will be fixed in the upcoming service release, which should be out soon.

is that a "soon" as in a few hours? a few days? a few weeks?? (i'm hoping not a few months or more)
....so i can plan how to work around vray not working.

I don't know when "soon" is (hence the ambiguity). As soon as it gets to a point where the features that are being added are ready, then we'll get it out there. Not hours, hopefully days, hopefully not months.

hey Dalomar/Crubadue/Micha,
i don't intend to be a jerk here, but i am a bit frustrated at ASGvis...
Don't we (People that have purchased Vray -- though i guess i'm just speaking for myself, so "don't I") deserve a working version of Vray that works with the current version of Rhino and it's current SDK? i can understand you working on new improvements (and appreciate that) but can't you issue a patch first to keep everybody working?

it has been months sense my vray has worked. and i don't feel that i should have to use old versions of the software just to stay compatible with Vray. can't you issue a patch to get all users working with vray, and then focus on improving the product?

i would love to know your opinions on this, it is quite frustrating from my end.

Hi J. Andre,

I'm an ASgvis independent 3D freelancer and I'm here, because I like Vray very much and use it for my daily work. I don't understand the current situation too and don't know anything.
The vray engine is a phantastic render engine and I think, full integrated to Rhino it could be high end engine number one for many, many users and the plugin could be a money-spinner for ASGvis . I don't know, why they wait.

I don't know either why it takes so long,I own 2 copies of Vray,and while I find it an outstanding renderer,I think Asgvis is letting us down.
There was always great answers from Joe and Corey at the beginning,we knew what was happening,Damien is making a great job at solving problems,but we need to know when for sure the SR will be available.I also know it is a small team that develop it,I knew that when I bought,but I am beginning to have some regrets now.And what it does ...it makes me look elsewhere,
Soon is just not an answer anymore,soon has been repeated ad nauseam since August ...

J. Andre,

I apologize for how things have been handled and how long things have taken. When I say your post last night here and in the Newsgroup, I made sure the Corey saw it. All I can really say is sorry. We've run into a few things that have taken much longer then anyone of us had expected. It was never our intention to have to people jump through hoops to use our product, or have them make the choice as to whether to use V-Ray or anything else. I've been told that we are going to try and get something out as quick as possible so that this problem is solved.
