  • Problems with RAM.......HELP!!!!!!

Hi guys, while workin on my new pc, I' ve seen that I' m not able to manage large files (60/70 MB)while rendering. I mean, if the objects are too close to the camera, V-Ray requests a lot of memory to the point that it switches off.
This happen only when I run large image(2000x2000) and not with smaller images.
Even if the settings are crap in terms of resolution, I cannot still make it work properely.
    My pc is composed by:

    Intel Q6600,
    MB Gigabyte GA-P35C-D3R,
    Enermax Infiniti 720W,
    Corsair Dominator 8500 C5D 1066 Mhz 4X1024,
    nVidia Quadro FX 1700,
    Windows XP x64 bit.

Can some of you guys help me please?

    Thank you, Maurizio.

    Re: Problems with RAM.......HELP!!!!!!

there are a number of things that dictate ram usage...the major ones being the mesh and textures. So if you can decrease the number of mesh faces in your model and only use the resolution textures that you need for the quality, then that will help as well. As far as resolution, you may try rendering to VRImage, which will help conserve your memory (check for the large resolution tutorial for more details on that). There are a few other small tricks that you can use to help as well...having a smaller bucket size will basically shrink the amount of the image that is worked on at a single time. Micha also has some things that he uses for RAM intensive scenes, so you might take a look at his collection of tools.
