  • Decal appearing on the back wall of object

When I apply my corporate logo to a product's "front wall" using a planar texture map, it appears correctly on the desired surface but also "shines" thru the product, appearing in reverse on the exterior "rear" wall. Can you help?

If its just a single surface (not a polysurface or box), then you can set up a double sided material, and simply have the material w/ the logo for the front and w/o the logo for the back. If its a polysuface, then you'll have to detach the back surface and apply a material without the logo on that.

Are you saying that if it is bottle shaped, there is no way to apply the logo/decal/ texture map to only a specific "side" without it also appearing 180 deg. off?

Unless I create a seperate surface?

Essentially, Yes. However, by mapping the surface in different ways you can get around that. A bottle might be a little tricky, but a wall should be fairly simple. If you can post a few more details, then I can walk you through the process of setting it up

Or you don't use a planar projection. Maybe the default uv coordinates can be used or a cylindrical mapping helps.

Not having the ability to "easily" apply a decal to one surface of a transparent object is a major weakness. Any plans to fix it?

I'm having the same issue. I tried splitting my transparent object (a bottle) and applying a decal to only one half. This eliminates the 2nd decal, but now a parting line is visible in my render.

Is there a better way to do this?

I would use a cylindrical mapping. The height of the mapping widget could be like the decal should be and than play with the repeat option to get the right decal wide.
