Barn Door Effect

I just recently installed the SR1 Beta and have been using it for about a week now and today I noticed a new section in the cone lighting options called the barn door effect. I tried a few simple test renders having the setting checked and unchecked and I did not notice any difference. Can anybody explain what this setting is for and how to use it.

I haven't seen any effect of this setting either so I wouldn't kill yourself over it. As far as what its actually supposed to do, its essentially simulating the lights with the little flaps on the edges. Thats all the real info I got, sorry

Actually that helps a lot. At least now the left, right, top, bottom settings make more since to me as I would guess that they relate to the sizes of those flaps. Thanks for the info.
