• Looking for arch scene props : people & trees

After a lot of research, not much has turned up. There are tons of sites for people & trees for MAX, but I prefer to stay in Rhino if at all possible. Please add to this post and I'll generate a page on my Rhino training website, http://learn.schultzeworks.com. Professional or free are both OK.

The specific needs are
1) 3D people with textures
2) 2D people with textures (billboard style)
3) 2D people no textures : outline or shadow style
4) 3D trees, shrubs
5) 2D trees, shrubs

The only site I have found with full 3D trees in Rhino format are here http://www.doschdesign.com/products/...for_Rhino.html

Re: Looking for arch scene props : people & trees

Since Rhino plays so nice with other formats it seems to get ignored for its own special content. I have had good luck importing obj files with textures, I think from Dosch if memory serves. And billboard 2D trees and peeps I've never seen anywhere on a ready made 3D object to be inserted in a model prior to rendering.

I might have to get those Dosch trees....

Yea, don't worry about getting things in 3dm format...as long as its an obj or a 3ds, then you should be fine...In actuality its better that way because texture coordinates are more stable.

Dalomar : nailed it!

I never thought that a 3DS file would import along with all the texture coordinates, so I never tried. Thank you!

Re: Looking for arch scene props : people & trees

Right and so 3D people from www.axyz-design.com works great here.

For 2D I would use textures from www.got3d.com or www.DOSCH.com .

Follow up re: rigged people

I noticed some of the better 3D people models are fully rigged, which is great to adjust the poses in MAX. I assume that you then need to delete / exclude the skeleton, then export the model to .3DS and import into Rhino. Can anyone confirm that will work OK?

FYI : I have run into problems when scaling models with skeletal rigs. TIP : pose the character, then copy. With the copy, delete the rig, THEN scale the character as needed.

Also the Dosch stuff is the best, not to mention the most expensive. But, for billable + client projects, why not look your best? Note : the link should be http://www.doschdesign.com/
