  • Do you know the best way to render a 380 Mb Nurbs Megayacht?

    Hi all,

I have a BIG yacht to render in a dark (night) scene. This rendering is just for the communication between the yard and the light designer, so i don't need any materials & etc. And I had the settings below(see the attached pdf file) for a night shot and I use vray emmissive materials as light sources for led strips and downlights. There is no photorealistic quality wanted. The rendering is tought just to see the whole vessel in one shot and control the lighting distribution on the ship. (dark-light areas comparison). And my problem is that Rhino obviously doesn't want to render (error error error) the 380 MB big file. I already tried to convert the drawing to mid quality meshes but it disturbs the surface quality to much... p.s. I have: Core Duo T7700 2,40 GHz x 2 and Geforce Quadro FX 1600M just to know. What do you mean?

    Best Regards! korale

    Look at my post here:

Premeshing should help a lot, but you should try to use different mesh settings for different kind of objects - some more detailed, some less.

Take a look at the taskmanager and the RAM usage of the Rhino.exe. I suppose so, it's a RAM problem and than the hints of the linked thread should help - I hope.

      vielen dank micha. it works.

This memory tricks help a lot in this case. i had to use complex meshes but at the end i had a 180 mb model and it was ok.

übrigens du hast ne schicke seite und sehr saubere arbeiten. viel erfolg!
