  • vray express materials / scripting question

Although the idea for the express materials looks pretty good, every time you assign a material again, it loads a duplicate of the material. Would be nice if there was a way around this (with scripting?). I was wondering, if it is possible to access the material editor with rhinoscript and change material aspects with rhinoscript. This way it will be much easier to make global changes to materials (for example to increase or decrease glossy settings)
Or, if scripting is not an option, it would be nice to be able Ctrl or Shift select more than one material and make global changes this way.

The scripting capabilities for materials are currently very limited...At the moment, about the only thing that you can really do to a material is set its alpha contribution besides loading or retrieving active materials.

Hi Gijs, For now to avoid duplicate material once applied the material, you must apply the same material but this time using the right button instead the left.
