  • HARDWARE...what computer speeds are acceptable for rendering.

I'm on a DELL dimension DXPO51 w/ an intel pentium dual processor that is 3 GHz w 2.5GB of RAM

the computer is about four years old...

when purchasing a new computer what are the speed and memory requirements that will speed rendering time considerably?

thanks in advance to anyone who answers this

Speed is whatever you can afford to throw at it. More threads are generally better, but speedy threads are good. Memory wise, get up 3gbs unless you know why you can use more. Thats the short answer, but it doesn't boil down to much more then that.

any suggestion for hardware setup for dedicated renderfarm?
would the dell rack cpus (quad core etc.) be appropriate?
Thanks in anticipation of your help.
