  • Light Falloff control?

how would i calculate the distance of light decay based on a distance for instance i have a omni light that has a Inverse decay and a cutoff of .005 what does it mean in terms of units in the file (inches feet) i want to make the light cut way down by 6'4"

i figured it out by train and error it was .2

but what i find maybe a bug? the default was .005 if you up or down arrow it goes .105 .205 .305 but after you get to .x it can never go below .1 again.

also it is a hard cut off

      would inverse decay change that?

and with the same setting it does not go out visibly, will try higher numbers

1e-13 gets only a faint light to show is there any setting i could be doing better?

That value is there to prevent light from being calculated when it is too faint to really effect the rendering. So if you don't want it active, then setting it to 0 (or as close to 0 as you can) would get you where you seam to want to go. Your decay settings, really won't have a significant affect on the cut off itself. It will happen earlier with an inverse or inverse square decay, but it won't change its behavior. Its noted about the step size on the parameter being to large
