Does RAM memory speed affects the rendering speed?

hi everyone

well im about to buy some pc render slaves and i have a question; Does RAM memory affects the render speed??

4GB ddr2 800 is faster than 4GB ddr2 667 ?

Not by much but if you plan to overclock then you generally want the higher memory so that you dont hit memory speed walls.

If your going for a render slave then why not go ahead and go Core i7? When looking at price to performance, it actually is quite a value if you get the i7 920 and overclock it. Mine runs at 3.8ghz 24/7 and is quite the beast.

hey john thanks for the reply, well i tought about buying a i7 system but is very expensive ( ddr3, new mobos for the processor, aftermarket heatsink.) so i decided to buy 2 ( i hope 3) deneb systems with phenom 940 (3.0Ghz no ovedrclocking plans) and 4gigs fo ram. each one costs me us395$ so if the memory speed dont affect rendering times, i'll try buy 3 nodes ( im in a very tight budget, im also buying a nikon d300 for making some decent HDRI's).

Wait a second. You only paid 395 for each complete Phenom II system with 940's? Where in the world did you buy that?

not really a complete system (i need a case), ( screens are not needed cuz they are going to be slaves)
