    Hi

    Is this taken care of by the plugin or render core, or is this something to keep in mind when making materials? ???

    What exactly do you mean? I dont know much about how Vray works but I do know that your CPU takes care of alot of the evergy saving features but only when your CPU is not in use. Depending on what CPU you have it can use a 10th of the power when not in full use. Is that what your asking? Some motherboards can adjust the power given to things such as RAM and graphics cards but most of that stuff is taken care of by the OS.

      Im sorry John, I should have been clearer.

      I'm not totaly sure about this, but AFAIK, to make a "correct" Surface, the sum of reflection, diffuse and refraction should equal 100% of the incoming light:

      70% diffuse + 15% reflection + 15% refraction = 100%

      I know that some renderers take care of this aspect for you, by f.ex automaticaly adjust the the diffuse layer so that:

      80% diffuse + 20 % reflection + 15 % refraction = 115 %

      Are adjusted to

      65% Diffuse + 20 % reflection + 15 % refraction = 100%

      (Dont quote me on this )

      I wonder if vray takes care of this aspect for me, or if i have to consider this when I make materials?

        Yes V-Ray takes care of this for you. The layered shader systems is essentially "self shadowing", not additive, so this prevents the contribution of a given surface from being more that 100%. When we add the V-Ray Blend material it will be possible to create a material that gives of more light than it receives, but you would have to do that explicitly of course.
