  • Trees & other plants in Rhino 4.0

I know that 3ds Max has numerous products on the market that offer realistic vegetation for Arch-Viz.

But other than Flamingo, I have yet to find a semi-decent plant program with a large selection to choose from.

What companies out there today offer a product that is compatible with Rhino 4.0 ???

I have looked at Xfrog, Onyx etc... but it seems as if they were geared for 3ds Max.

Is there any other program that offers procedural trees like Flamingo that is also compatible wit Rhino?

I have seen that Dosch offer a Rhino compatible package, but being all 3D this would take up alot more RAM and file
size that procedural am I right?

If anyone has more info or advice on this, it would be very much appreciated.

    Just to clarify,

Does Vray for Rhino support any tree packages also???

If not then I may as well stick with Flamingo for a while....

AFAIK Flamingo is the only thing that has a "tree package" specifically for Rhino. I remember McNeel mentioning that this might eventually make its way to RDK, but so far that has not happened. Now that's not to say other plant packages won't work with VfR. Most of them export a lot of their trees as 3ds or obj (obj being a little better). Most of these will import just fine into Rhino and be just as useful as they are in Max. Since most of the plant packages you can get will have 3ds and obj exports you should be just fine with what's out there.
