  • Impruve render speed

    HI everyone,
This is my first post but I work with rhino form many years, so I found vray very usefull in rendering solution and this is an example of my works. .

I think is an acceptable result but I'm sure that there's a way to impruve render speed of my visopt http://rapidshare.com/files/24766361...GH.visopt.html without loose the quality.
The render above was an original 1200x700 image and it takes about 6 hour with my sistem ( AMD Phenom II x4 920 2.80Ghz, 4Gb RAM).

In the scene there are only two rectangular lights.
Hope anyone can suggest a good solution.

    Re: Impruve render speed

Impossible to say without knowing what the model is like.
Optimizing render time varies from model to model. No universal quick-fix.
If you can post more info and images from your model it might be possible to give some tips.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

Nice image. I noticed that pretty much every surface is glossy in that render and that all that glossiness is silky smooth. IMHO I think that 6 hours for that quality of render is pretty acceptable, but of course, you can bring it down if you're willing to sacrifice just a little quality. First thing is that if you're using Light Cache, then you should enable Use For Glossy Rays as this will help considerably. Next I'd take a look a the number of subdivisions that you have on your material. I would imagine that they are quite high at the moment, so you might want to bring them down. I'm not sure what your antialiasing settings were, but those might be worth reducing slightly as well.

          Re: Impruve render speed

Fernando downloaded the visopt that you had attached, and gave it a look. Your slow down is coming from the global Subdivision Multiplier setting within the DMC Sampler. In your visopt this is set 8, which will essentially cause there to be massive oversampling in a whole lot of places. This is the equivalent of using a fire hose to water a small plant....its just massive overkill. Back that setting back down to 1 and see what happens.

Note that the global subdivision multiplier affects Irradiance Map hemispheric subdivisions, area lights, and glossy reflections/refractions (others too, but you're not using those in your scene), so be aware that those were taking way more samples before than they will be with the multiplier at 1.

            Re: Impruve render speed

I used for all material subtivision at 8.
I' ll try to set down the DMC sempler subd and see what happens.
            THX ;D

I'm seeing my progress render with the new setting DMC sempler subdivision (1) and is really fast (I think it coult be takes about 30min), obviusly there is more noise and some materials are less defined.I
            'll post both images soon.
