  • looking for a good leather materials

    hi all,
i'm looking for a leather shader, simple, not heavy texture (no crocodile here), wondering if any of you knew of a place to go for it. Also, is there a library of materials i could purchase for my job?
    thanks

          Hi Andeciuala,

I looked at your video long before i read this thread. Congrats on that tutorial, very very good. I have also seen some other tutorials that you have made on YouTube, so many thanks.

I am trying to produce a render in which i have a chair that is very up close, and it has a Leather finish. I did all the steps in the video, but when i render, the leather material "displaces" like 5 times the actual size of the chair, so that it pretty much deforms it. It deforms it because not all the chair is made of leather, the chair also has wooden parts. On the video i see that you have a Leather Sphere, so it doesn't matter if it displaces a lot, because nothing is messed up.

So i have to delete the Displacement material, and i am left with just the bump map.. so i cannot produce the effect i want. I will post the picture as soon as i find it. I have rendered it in another computer, and right now i'm on my laptop.

I am thinking that maybe i have to set another number in the Displacement option in the Vray Preferences pane.. i have set Edge Length to 2 and 1,000 on subdivisions. I set those numbers because i have a Rug that has to be displaced in those parameters, so i cannot touch that number because my Rug is perfect as it is. A bit complicated to explain.. maybe with the picture, you can understand a bit more.

          Cheers.
