That seems amazing! Is there any sites that offer varieties of grass vismats? Plugins like these or ready made textures really help relieve some of the workload! good find!

      Re: New vray plugin AUTOGRASS

I just contacted them to see what would be needed to add compatibility to our products. I'm looking forward to hearing back from them. I'm hoping that they developed a V-Ray plugin, and it's not just some sort of 3D Studio Max magic that makes it all possible. We'll just have to wait and see what happens...

              Re: New vray plugin AUTOGRASS

That is really cool! Thanks for checking on this DKENDIG.

Speaking of plugins like this, has any one at ASGIVS talked to McNeal about the possibility of implementing Flamingo's tree and plant system? I have no idea how all of this coding stuff works, so going from Flamingo to VRAY is probably not possible, I only mention Flamingo becuase it works with Rhino . . . but having a tree and plant system would be a life saver!

I know it's probably annoying to have posts asking you to add stuff all of the time and I know you guys are working really hard on the next VFR release and reworking it to make future expansion and additions easier, so I certainly don't want to the above comment to sound like I think VFR is missing key elements -- you guys have done terrific work. I'd just love to see items like, grass, trees and plants, FUR, atmospheric effects, etc. implimented at some point, that's all. I'd rather VFR be done right, and as bug free as possible before any other stuff.

If there are any third party developers (like Happy Digital) that we can all bug to make those kinds of additions easier in the future, I know many of us probably would! Let us know!!!!

                  Re: New vray plugin AUTOGRASS

Well, if something works in a given host application, that's all fine and well. Happy Digital, (from what I've seen so far at least), wrote a V-Ray plugin for this grass stuff. That means that if we get it working, it works on all host applications, because it's a V-Ray feature, not a Rhino, SketchUp, etc type of feature. That is MUCH more helpful than a collection of tools that only work on one host app or another. So if there's a V-Ray plugin that deals with vegetation or whatever other crazy things you can pop in to your head, then that's really worth investigating. That's why I contacted them. We're most likely not going to include any additional plugins in our upcoming release (since that's not really the goal), but once our new core is finished, we will be able to integrate new V-Ray plugins with relative ease (all depends on how much interaction there is with the host application, and how crazy the plugin turns out to be).
                  Best regards,

                    Re: New vray plugin AUTOGRASS

It could be great to find a developer for all the additional stuff. I think, Vray is the winner of all render engines and writing good tools for Vray is like a haveing a money printer.

At the june I ask the exlevel team for GrowFX http://exlevel.com/ and got the answer:
In this year we will try to expand the features GrowFX, also to create a plugin for other 3D programs: Maya, Cinema4D, and possibly Rhino3D.
Maybe it could be good if more people ask for a plugin or ASGvis get in contact with the team. The gallery looks quite good (hey, I see some free models).
Important for plants - instances/proxy, so that the memory usage stay low.
