  • Silver Color Car Paint

    Hi all!

I found this Silver car paint color that I really like but don't see a tutorial for this color.

Here is the color Silver car paint I am talking about this link below:

    http://www.cgarena.com/freestuff/tut...int/index.html

The tutorial is for 3DS Max and I was looking for a V-Ray for Rhino tutorial for this Silver color. Man that sucks!!!

    Thanks!

    Solution

There are some new materials in the usual download areas... which include several different and very nice car paint materials. If there is no silver color, just modify the closest color, such as black or white.

      Hi
Here is the material that I created for you. It is has two reflection layer to have two different glossiness effect. Also I use filter to tint a litter bit the reflection and two diffuse layer with a fresnel mapping on the transparency slot of the top layer to have a smooth blending between the diffuse layer.

        Re: Silver Color Car Paint

        Thanks fpedrogo!

However, I was not able to load it into the V-Ray material editor. When I did the "Import New Material", I get an error message of "Invalid ASGvis material file".

Is there another way to import your new material into the V-Ray material editor?

The vismat file size you sent me is 4.01 KB, is there a way to shrink down the file size to BYTES. I notice that if the vismat file size is in BYTES, it will load but is it's in the KB size, it will not load. I am not sure if the file size matter here.

        Thanks!!

fpedrogo, if you still can't figure out why your vismat file will not load into my V-Ray, can you please send me the instruction or post it in this forum on how you created the Silver Car Paint color?

          My email is:

            Re: Silver Color Car Paint

Maybe the reason why you can't load the material is because you have an older version of V-Ray. We made some improvement to the material editor, so I think that you have to update your V-Ray.

                    Re: Silver Color Car Paint

I created a video tutorial explaining how I made this advance car paint material. I think you can understand more in depth how our material editor works.

Fernando, I just watched your video and it's FANTASTIC!!!!

Thanks creating that complex metallic car paint color for us!

It looks like you are the only person who know how to use V-Ray. Are you the creator of the V-Ray software because you can't just be users like all of us? ;D

                          Hi Creativeminds
Thank you for the comments. I was a regular user, but now I work for ASGVIS, I'm a V-Ray for Rhino and Sketchup trainer. If you take a look at this forum you will note that we have very talent artists that share their knowledge with other people in this forum.
