  • Surface with shiney and matted areas

    Hello,

I'm trying to render a label (using a texture) which has (complex shaped) shiney and matted areas. How can this be done?

By making reflection maps, and set them where it's relevant (highlight/Reflection Glossiness).

Can Fresnel reflections still be used?

The best way to create the label is using the reflection map on the mapping slot on the fresnel color. The Hilight glossines and the reflection Glossines is to add blurry to the material. If you use the reflectiion mapping on one of these slot, the only thing that you are saying is where you want blurry and where you don't want blurry depending of the color. Black will be 0 and white 1. The best way o control the reflctivity is on the fresnel effect.
