stl stepping on renders.....

hi I am new to vray and to this forum.... I use claytools and rhino for jewellery modelling. The output file for claytools is stl really. I can output very fine mesh models... but there is still stepping on edges of corners on the renders. Is there a way to minimise this stepping in vray settings at all?
