  • Rhino 5 and V-Ray, BFF's?

Hey all, it's your friendly neighborhood support manager here, on a fact finding mission.

All of my experimentation and the customer feedback that I have received regarding the WIP Rhino 5 and the current version of V-Ray says no, and officially I am still saying that they are not compatible, but it turns out that Fernando has been running Rhino 5 and V-Ray together for quite some time with no problems at all. Before my head explodes from the possibility that I am not infallible, I thought I would ask you true believers if any of you are using Rhino 5 and V-Ray and what kind of experiences you have had.

Rhino 5 WIP can read all installed Rhino 4 plugins with no problems, so Vray should works correctly... it works good here.

Thanks Alto, Most of the problems I have seen were regrading, obtaining a render license. Let me ask you this, did you remove Rhino 4 before installing 5? All of my tests were clean installs and the only thing I have yet to try is installing 5 over top of 4 then V-Ray.

Could the host OS also be a factor here? Stuff like UAC etc..?
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

No, Rhino 4 was not removed, and vray was already installed before Rhino 5 installation.

@ Thomthom It defiantly could be, Fernando and I both work on Windows XP pro 32 bit.

@ Alto That makes sense, Fernando told me that he already had V-Ray and Rhino 5 installed when he loaded up Rhino 5, I assumed that installing over top of 4 was the main difference between what he did and what I did.

Thanks for the ideas so far guys, keep them coming. I can look forward to testing in depth this weekend. I will defiantly let you know what I find out.
