  • folding material around a block

I want to make a block with holes in it. I made an opacity map but it does not want to fold nicely around the corners of the block whatever texture mapping i use. I assuime this should be possible in V-Ray. Any suggestions?

    Regards, René

... well I`m not expert in Vray but if you ask me - better model holes in 3D and forget about mapping ... after a lot of mapping problems I stoped use it at all ...
Other solution is to export mesh and to remap object in external software - unfold3D , max ... etc.

Doe's the Rhino renderer (or rendered viewport) render without texture distorsion? In this case it helps to extract rendermesh, export as OBJ and reimport. So, the UV are baked to the mesh and can't be distorted by Vray anymore (I think, it's an very old VfR bug).

        A simple idea

I would extract (or explode) the faces of your block. Then, use a separate map for each face. It may seem like more work, but you'll get EXACTLY what you need with minimum tweaking.
