  • switch off object shadows...?

It's possible to make off shadows of object, when this object is visible for a camera?

    Nope.
    Why would you need this?

You can turn off shadows in the light source option menu, though.

      Re: switch off object shadows...?

I need switch off shadow for only one object in global scene.
      One solution is here:
      http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?to...19205#msg19205

But this solution remove object from reflection too.
The reason is unimportant... But - I have acr around interior (behind windows) scene with environment picture on this. When i use vray sun, then this arc make shadows in interior...
I would like know if this is possible...

and I need not answer like: "make background in photoshop" - Thats i know

You could try an emitter material for the env photo and transparency at 254. So, the sun goes 99% through the plane. Now set the intensity like you want it. The global background should be black. Let us know, if it work.

Micha, you are, simply, master! )
This solution work! - intensity emise layer must be very high - cca 800....But it's super
Is similar solution for solid? - I think, switch off shadows? Do you have any idea?

          result:

For solids I have no idea, sorry.
I hope once a day VfR will be up to date and I must not keep all this workarounds in my head anymore.

                Re: switch off object shadows...?

Do you mean, having a solid around your scene and using V-Ray sun?
I've just given it a try with a sphere and my solution is:

                - create a VRaySkp2sidedMtl
                - in the [Front] slot, use a 100% transparent material
                - in the [Back] slot, use an emitter material (multiplier 20 was enough with my settings) with your background image.
                - place everything else inside of this at a good distance

Does that work for you, as well?

No no.....I think solid for example box in room and similary.....
                  But isn't possible :/
But this idea with sphere is very good too!
The key is in emitter material with transparenci, thats way

                    Re: switch off object shadows...?

ah, I see... yep, you can't do this in the current V-Ray release.
It's a whole lot of playing with the lights in a scene; after all it's something I'd refer to as the "realistic approach" since you can't turn off shadows on real objects as well

Yes, you'r right, but rendering isn't only "realistic approach"
We must often make real effect through unreal approach
