  • Can't get sunlight system to work.

Hi, I've read a lot of older posts regarding similar problems, but I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Problem: the changes I make to the sunlight system doesn't seem to affect the scene. I'm tweeking every control I can find, but when I render the sun is still in zenit. I'm saving my Sunlight System settings as default, but nothing happens.

I'm thinking that there is a ticked box somewhere in the extensive (and parallell) settings of VRay that shouldn't be ticked, or vice versa. But I can't find it, and I've been looking for hours, tweeking every control I can find, ticking and unticking every possible box... I'm feeling a bit desperate to say the least. Can someone guide me?

Oh my god.. Ehrm. Problem solved. This is almost too stupid to put up on the forum, but here's what I did wrong:

I didn't "place" the sun in the scene after making my adjustments in the Sunlight system panel.

Thanks anyway Leobonilla for you input! Maybe you can help me with my next issue?

I have the default settings exept for having the GI (skylight) set to "none". I have also disabled shadows under Environment / Background.

Renders during daytime works perfect - they look nice and shadows are displayed properly. However, if I run a render during "nighttime" the scene is still quite luminated instead of beeng completely dark. How do I fix this?

        Thanks for helping me out!

if you are not using sky in the GI, decrease the multiplier of the GI lower than 0.3
